Who is Lisa?

In the winter of 1996 I was the proud owner of a BA in Secondary Social Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado.  I was ready to take on the education world and do what I wanted to do since the time I could remember. I was going to teach! I was ready to share my passion and creativity with my future students. I was eager and prepared.

Unless I could find a teacher that was going on maternity leave or was dead the chances of me landing a job were very slim. The market was tight and flooded.  I landed in the corporate training world quite by accident ,  and I have been surviving  ever since.

In 2015 I made a leap of faith to pursue my master’s  degree at CU Denver . I was tired of surviving. I had spent my career as a self taught instructional designer. I was in small departments and on tight budgets.  I was looking for a community that I could  learn from and that shared my same passions for technology and education. I needed a new toolkit to compete with the world that was changing rapidly around me.

It’s a crazy life I live.. Long hours at work… little sleep with two boys in school and me an active member of the PTA… but it’s  whole lot of fun!

Join me on this crazy journey as I share with you:

  • My toolbox of resources gathered over the years
  • My experiences thru my blog – The good The bad &  The Ugly
  • Live by my three favorite mantras:
    • “Give a person a fish and they will eat for a day. Teach a person to fish and they will eat for a lifetime.”
    • “Give it a little K.I.S.S” (Keep it simple stupid)
    • “You can teach old dogs new tricks”

I believe that Learning is a life journey. There is no Wright or wrong way to do it. You must jump in with two feet and explore.  You will need to celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes . It will take time, people, experiences, and the right tools to succeed. Everyone has the capacity to learn and share.

Who is ready to jump in with me?

Thanks for stopping by I look forward to hearing from you!
